The best hotels in Porto-Vecchio: our 5 favorites
If you don’t want to read the whole list of hotels and why we love them, here’s our quick answer with our favorites in every corner of Bonifacio, and why you’ll have a wonderful stay there!
Best hotel in Porto-Vecchio with beach: Le Mariosa
There aren’t really any beaches in the center of Porto-Vecchio. Along the bay, however, there are a number of beautiful beaches with privileged access for certain hotels.
And we love the ones on the south shore of the bay with mountain views!
We particularly enjoyed our stay at the Mariosa hotel, with its beach, good restaurant, refined decor and beautiful beach.

Best hotel near the citadel: La Casa Santini
If you want to stay closer to the center of town, but still have your feet almost in the water, we fell in love with the renovated Casa Santini x Roc Seven hotel: the boho-chic decor, the sea views in every direction, the serenity of the place… we wish we could have stayed longer.

Best 5-star hotel: Grand Hôtel de la Cala Rossa
Another of our favorites. This hotel literally has its feet on the beach and in the water. One of the stairs on the terrace really does go down into the water!
This is one of our favorite beaches around Porto-Vecchio, with beautiful views. And we love the peace and quiet!

Best hotel in Palombaggia: Hôtel Les Bergeries
If you’re looking for a more back-to-nature experience, Les Bergeries de Palombaggia is the hotel for you. We love the stone buildings that disappear among the rocks and vegetation.
The pool lets you swim laps as you lose yourself in the sea horizon.
What’s more, you’re right next to Corsica’s best-known beach.

Best hotel in Santa Giulia: Hotel Alivi
And just 15 minutes from the center of Porto-Vecchio, another well-known beach with its long strip of sand is Santa-Giulia. From the Hotel Alivi, we enjoyed relaxing on the terrace and admiring the view of the bay and its turquoise waters.
We’d just cool off in the circular pool from time to time…

Where to stay in Porto-Vecchio: best spots / neighborhoods
Is spending the night in Porto-Vecchio worth it?
Spend at least one night in the Porto-Vecchio area, absolutely. On the other hand, we don’t think it’s necessary to spend the night in the city center. It’s not the most fascinating of Corsican towns. But it’s surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches on the whole island. And to make the most of it, we recommend spending several nights here.
It’s one of the most beautiful places to stay in Corsica and to sleep in Southern Corsica!
Sleep nearby and enjoy:
- the famous beaches of Palombaggia, Tamaricciu, Santa-Guilia, Rondinara…
- climb the mountains to the Aiguilles de Bavella
- discover the citadel of Bonifacio, just a 30-minute drive away
Then you can plan your stay with our guide to What to do in Porto-Vecchio and the most beautiful beaches around Porto-Vecchio.
We have identified 5 main areas to sleep in around Porto-Vecchio
The best places to stay in Porto-Vecchio: map
Here’s a map to help you find your way, showing the 5 main areas to stay in Porto-Vecchio:
Sleeping in the center around the citadel
Porto-Vecchio’s town center is organized around 2 poles: the marina and the citadel.
Hotels are nearby, between a 5min and 20min walk.
Benefits:
- The biggest advantage of staying in the center of Porto-Vecchio is easy access to a wider choice of restaurants.
- Close to the citadel, restaurants and boat departures
- Lively nightlife: you’ll find a variety of bars, clubs and discos nearby.
Disadvantages:
- Potential noise: As the center of Porto-Vecchio is generally busier and has more traffic, there may be some noise, especially at night.
- Limited parking: If you are travelling by car, it is important to note that parking may be limited in the center of Porto-Vecchio.
- El traffic as soon as you want to leave the city
Our favorite hotels:
We recommend the 4-star Casa Santini hotel, right on the water – see photos and availability.
And we recommend the 3-star Les Roches Blanches hotel right next to the marina – see photos and availability.
Sleeping on the South Shore of Porto-Vecchio Bay
Benefits:
- Panoramic views: Hotels on the south shore offer magnificent panoramic views of the bay itself.
- Tranquillity: This part of Porto-Vecchio bay is generally quieter and more peaceful than the bustling town center. If you’re looking for a serene environment in which to relax and recharge your batteries, this is a good choice.
- Beaches: Several hotels on the South Shore have a beach right in front of the hotel for those who like to swim in the sea without having to take the car!
- Many hotels in the area have good restaurants, so you still have plenty of choice despite the distance from downtown.
Disadvantages:
- Distance from downtown: You’ll need a car to explore
- Fewer dining options: Although some hotels on the South Shore have their own restaurants, there are fewer dining options nearby than in the bustling downtown area.
Our favorite hotels:
We recommend the Hotel Mariosa with its elegant design and private beach – see photos and availability
And if you want to cook for yourself, we recommend the Maranatha with its charming accommodations, perfect for families – see photos and availability .
Sleeping on the North Shore of Porto-Vecchio Bay
Benefits:
- Panoramic views: Hotels on the south shore offer magnificent panoramic views of the bay itself.
- Tranquillity: This part of Porto-Vecchio bay is much quieter and more peaceful. If you’re looking for a serene environment in which to relax and recharge your batteries, this is a good choice.
- Beaches: Some hotels on the north shore have a beach right in front of the hotel for those who like to swim in the sea without having to take the car!
Disadvantages:
- Distance from downtown: You’ll need a car to explore
- Mainly luxury hotels
- Few restoration options
Our favorite hotel:
We recommend the Grand Hotel de la Cala Rossa, with access to a superb beach – see photos and availability
Sleep on the Route de Palombaggia (near the famous beaches of southern Corsica)
On Corsica’s southern coast, south of Porto-Vecchio, you’ll find some of Corsica’s best-known beaches: Palombaggia, Tamaricciu, Santa Giulia… they’re all less than 20 minutes’ drive from the center of Porto-Vecchio.
Benefits:
- Close to magnificent sandy beaches with crystal-clear waters.
- Panoramic views: Most of the hotels on this coast are somewhat elevated, with beautiful views. They offer a relaxing atmosphere with coastal scenery.
- Water activities at your fingertips
Disadvantages:
- Limited dining options: While there may be restaurants on the beaches themselves, the offering can be limited compared to that in the city center.
- Distance from downtown: The beaches of Palombaggia and Santa Giulia are just a few kilometers from downtown Porto-Vecchio.
- These beaches are crowded in summer
Our favorite hotels:
We recommend the Les Bergeries de Palombaggia hotel for its natural setting (5 stars) – see photos and availability
We also like the Ambassador Palombaggia hotel in its relaxing setting (4 stars) – see photos and availability
And for Santa Giulia, we really liked the Hotel Alivi and its 4-star circular swimming pool – see photos and availability.

Benefits:
- Direct access to magnificent beaches: Hotels located on the beaches of Pinarello or Saint Cyprien offer direct access to these superb sandy beaches.
- Peaceful environment: These beaches are often less crowded than the more central ones, creating a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere.
- A wide range of water sports
Disadvantages:
- A little further from the famous southern beaches of Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio
- Limited dining options: Pinarello and Saint Cyprien beaches may have limited dining options compared to more central areas.
- You’ll need a car to explore the region
Our favorite hotel:
We recommend the hotel Le Pinarello in the bay of Pinarellu with beautiful views – see photos and availability
And if you prefer the beach of Saint-Cyprien, consider the Son de Mar hotel – see photos and availability
