Staying at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Porto-Vecchio was a great experience for us!
We were very pleasantly surprised by the breathtaking view over the bay and the landscape lost between sea and mountains. We liked the hotel’s services, especially the large outdoor heated pool.
In this article, we share our tips for staying at this establishment. We’ve also included plenty of photos to help you make up your own mind.

Why stay at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Porto-Vecchio?
The establishment offers quality service and exceptional benefits for its guests’ stay. Indeed, we really enjoyed it. It’s also included in our article on the best hotels and in our selection of 7 superb seaside hotels in Porto-Vecchio. Here are the 3 main assets of this hotel in our opinion:
- the view: the hotel is set in a privileged location with a breathtaking view of the sea and surrounding mountains. We were able to enjoy the beauty of nature and the tranquility of the environment from our room.
- the balcony: each room has a private balcony where we could relax and contemplate the Corsican landscape. The terrace is also perfect for reading a book while enjoying the view. Thanks to room service, you can also enjoy breakfast on your balcony!
- ambience: a luxurious, intimate atmosphere. It is tastefully decorated and features relaxation facilities. We were able to relax in the heated pool and sauna.

Is the Golden Tulip Hotel worth it? Our review
We are very satisfied with our stay at the hotel. It’s in a great location, close to all the interesting sights of Porto-Vecchio. We found the room spacious and comfortable. Special mention for the balcony, which offered an incredible view of the bay.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. In our opinion, the services offered by the hotel were very good. The outdoor heated pool was really big and surrounded by beautiful scenery. In short, we highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in Porto-Vecchio.

Decoration and atmosphere
Within the hotel, we found the atmosphere warm and relaxing. The communal area behind reception featured comfortable sofas. We really appreciated the various facilities available to customers in this room:
- table soccer,
- television,
- books,
- board games.
The decor featured soft colors and natural materials. Comfortably seated on sofas, we laughed as we discovered stuffed animals. The mix of wood, straw and plants created a pleasant, bohemian atmosphere. We found the brightness on the first floor incredibly beautiful. The outdoor area also features a terrace, a garden and a large heated swimming pool. All the facilities and services offered at the hotel are designed to make your stay pleasant and comfortable.

The room
Our room had a cocooning atmosphere. The natural decor and neutral colors created a soothing atmosphere. The various wooden pieces in the room added a touch of warmth and authenticity. The office area was particularly pretty, but we preferred to work on the balcony! We really liked the uncluttered decor, which blended well with the Corsican landscape visible from the bay window.
We found the king-size bed particularly comfortable. Ideal for optimal rest! The large windows offered magnificent views of the bay and surrounding mountains, and let in soft natural light. From the balcony, the view of the Mediterranean Sea and the hotel’s outdoor pool was even more impressive. We also recommend enjoying a magnificent sunset from this privileged spot. At night, the view is equally stunning. We could see the lights of the boats reflected in the water.

The bathroom
In our room, the bathroom was equipped with a spacious, modern shower. The decor in this room was cooler, with gray tiles. We found the shower large and comfortable. The wide knob spread the water flow more evenly. The toilet was separate from the bathroom.

The breakfast
The hotel offers a continental buffet breakfast. It offers local products such as Corsican cheeses and charcuterie, as well as canistrellis. We took advantage of the restaurant’s dining room, but you can also eat on your private balcony with room service.
There was a varied choice of sweet and savoury products: pastries, eggs, pancakes, bread, brioche, cakes, fruit and more. We found the breakfast rather classic but effective. We had tea and a glass of fruit juice with the meal.
For caffeine lovers, the hotel also has a coffee machine. We had breakfast indoors, but you can also enjoy it on the outdoor terrace. We wanted to make the most of the brightness of the restaurant’s dining room.

Equipment and common areas
We loved the large heated outdoor pool. It’s ideal for swimming laps and clearing your head. We found the deckchairs and sofas on the pool terrace comfortable.
What’s more, the surrounding landscape is very beautiful and natural. Around the pool, you can take a stroll in the on-site garden. There are several areas with pleasant outdoor furniture to sit back and enjoy this unique setting.
If you’re looking to relax and unwind, we recommend you try the sauna. We found it very clean. There’s no better way to relax after a day of sightseeing. Are you tempted?
The hotel also offers guests a fitness room overlooking the garden and swimming pool. We didn’t have time to test out the treadmill, but it’s pretty tempting with this landscape!

THE SAME MISTAKE WE MADE
On one of our last trips to Europe, a hacker stole our credit card details while we were using a hotel WiFi.
So our trip began with a “card blocked” call… Not funny at all!

The restoration
A lounge bar is open daily until 10:30pm. Once you’ve ordered your drink, you can sit out on the outdoor terrace and enjoy the hotel’s unique setting.
The hotel’s restaurant serves varied, tasty cuisine, with Mediterranean dishes based on local specialties. The room is attractively decorated, with blue and brown tones reminiscent of the sea. Decorative elements in wood and natural materials create a friendly atmosphere.

The Golden Tulip hotel is located Rue Henri Frenay (20137) in Porto-Vecchio in Corse-du-Sud.
- Driving time from Ajaccio: 2h30min.
- Driving time from Calvi: 3h15min.
- Driving time from Bastia: 2h25min.
- Driving time from Corte: 2h.
These journey times are approximate and depend on traffic density.
How to get there
To get to Corsica, you have 2 options: plane or ferry. If you choose the ferry option to get to Corse-du-Sud, you can arrive in Ajaccio. It’s a 2h30 drive to Porto-Vecchio.

You can also land at Sud Corse Figari airport, which is about a 25-minute drive from the town. You can then hail a cab or take a bus to Porto-Vecchio. See the official Tourist Office website for a list of possible bus routes.
We strongly recommend that you have access to a car for your trip to Corsica. If you want to see Corsica’s exceptional landscapes, you’ll need a car. On the other hand, if you want to stay in town, you can walk to most tourist attractions from the hotel.
