Restaurant La Table de Mina in Porto-Vecchio

About the atmosphere and the story

In a typical stone building, we pushed open the doors of Restaurant La Table de Mina, just 5 minutes from the famous Palombaggia beach near thehotel. In our opinion, this gourmet restaurant is a gem of a culinary experience in Porto-Vecchio. Did you know that “Mina” means “Granny” to local children? Chef Lucas Perez Gonzalez invites us to rediscover a creative cuisine based on Corsica’s terroir, but above all on grandmothers’ timeless recipes. All revisited in an elegant and convivial cocoon.

Restaurant La Table de Mina is an invitation to a sensory voyage where local flavors combine with inventiveness. Radish leaves with black garlic, peas with Corsican mint, saffron and truffle, turbot with puffed seeds, asparagus and samphire… These dishes, as original as they were delicious, revealed unexpected textures and flavors! For dessert, like us, try a sheep’s milk panna cotta with strawberries, pineapple and poached bananas for a refreshingly sweet touch.

The menu is adorned with the colors and flavors of Corsica, from appetizer to dessert. We were simply delighted. To begin with, would you care for some refreshment? We opted for a bissap, hibiscus flower and vanilla detox juice. The 1st sweet of the day to wake up your palate! The course waltz continued with an appetizer of focaccia and truffle ham, and a starter featuring juicy eggplants. For the main course, we opted for fillet of beef with glazed carrots, eggplant caviar and morel sauce.

Dessert

And to round off this delicious meal on a sweet, light and fruity note, what could be better than a deconstructed strawberry-rhubarb tart with its diplomatic garden verbena cream and sweet strawberry sorbet? Wishing to enjoy these specialties, we sampled a very good focaccia with Italian mortadella, followed by red mullet from Cap Corse, accompanied by a grenaille vinaigrette. In the heart of the calanques de Piana, Restaurant Les Bleues won us over for its exceptional panoramic views. Despite its prime location, prices remain reasonable.

On the menu: sea bream ceviche with cumin, lime, orange, green chili and cebette popcorn, or pork filet mignon with hazelnut crumble, chestnut cream and candied vegetables. Which dish will inspire you most for this meal? The chef doesn’t forget vegetarians, and proposes a delicious risotto with arborio rice, asparagus, vegetables and strawberry cream. What a delight!

Corsican specialties are also featured. The star appetizer with local colors and flavors: “l’aumônière du berger” with brick pastry, onion confit, sun-dried tomato purée, maquis honey and Corsican cheese.

Restaurant Les Roches Bleues

For our part, we opted for the suggestions of the day: Corsican burger and fillet of sea bream with immortelle. Do you know this plant for infusing in sauces, soups or stews? We were tempted! To finish on a sweet note:

One of our favorite gourmet restaurants in Piana: La Table de Neptune at theHôtel Capo Rosso. We spent an exquisite, timeless moment there. Everything was perfect. What a soothing atmosphere, what a fine selection of Corsican specialities and what a sumptuous view of the calanques on the horizon!

On the sommelier’s advice, we browsed the Neptune cellar’s fine wine list, featuring great Corsican vintages and wines from other French wine regions. In fact, he was a great help in matching food and wine when it came time to choose.

Restaurant La Table de Neptune in Piana

The short menu, which waltzes between land and sea, suggests dishes that combine flavors, colors and textures with originality and passion. Family-caught lobster flambéed in whisky, beef with miso eggplant and lemon soy sauce or Mediterranean red tuna and broccoli purée with hazelnut oil.

Service in the dining room was measured to the letter, to follow a particular rhythm in the delivery of dishes.

Nestled in the heart of the hotel of the same name, one of Bonifacio’s finest luxury hotels and indeedone of our favorite hotels in Corsica, the gourmet restaurant offers exquisite cuisine cooked with herbs from the garden. This hotel really does have a lot of charm, and we loved touring the vegetable garden before going to the restaurant to find the 1st beans of the year on our plate. We really followed the rhythm of the seasons!

In terms of flavors, typical Corsican dishes are fine and sophisticated, with unique tastes and local, seasonal cuisine. Chef Fabien delighted our taste buds.
