Where to stay in Propriano or Sartène: best areas
Is spending the night in Propriano worth it?
Propriano is often not the first choice for a stay in Southern Corsica, but if you’re looking for less crowds and slightly lower prices, it’s a good choice. There are plenty of restaurants in town and some lovely beaches nearby. And by car, you can reach Bonifacio in 1h15 and Palombaggia beach in 1h30.
Is spending the night in Sartène worth it?
If you want a more authentic experience in Corsica’s most Corsican town, then Sartène is for you. Its historic center surrounded by mountains is magnificent, and you’ll be able to enjoy it once the day’s crowds of visitors have left.
It’s worth considering when you’re looking for a place to stay in Corsica and a place to sleep in Southern Corsica!
Sleeping in Sartène
Benefits:
- Charm and authenticity: Sartène is a picturesque medieval town with an authentic, unspoilt atmosphere. We love its narrow streets, stone houses and shady squares.
- Magnificent scenery: the city is surrounded by mountains and green valleys
- Proximity to beaches: Although Sartène is not a coastal town, it is close to some superb beaches (20min to 1h).
Disadvantages:
- Distance from major cities: Sartène is a small town located at some distance from Corsica’s major cities and the main attractions of southern Corsica.
- Limited infrastructure, as the city is not large
Our favorite hotels:
We recommend the West Western San Damianu hotel with its swimming pool – see photos and availability
And we also love the charm of the Hotel Rossi – see photos and availability
Sleeping in the center of Propriano
Benefits:
- Accessibility to all restaurants
- Close to the beach
- Lively nightlife: Propriano is renowned for its lively nightlife, with numerous bars, restaurants and discos in the town center.
Disadvantages:
- The choice of good hotels in the center of town is very limited
- Noise: Given the bustle of the city center, it’s possible that noise from cars, restaurants or bars may be more prevalent, especially in high season.

Bartaccia is an area to the east of Propriano town center.
Benefits:
- This is where you’ll find all the best hotels
- All hotels offer beautiful views between sea and mountains
