The best hotels in Bastia, Corsica: our 5 favorites
If you don’t want to read the whole list of hotels and why we love them, here’s our quick answer with our favorites in every corner of Bastia.
Our favorite hotel in Bastia: Hôtel des Gouverneurs
With our suite at the corner of the hotel, our stay at the Hôtel des Gouverneurs was unforgettable. Located in the citadel, we had a breathtaking view of Bastia’s marina. We spent a lot of time in the room looking out the windows! Please note, however, that not all rooms have such views.

Best hotel with beach access: Hotel Alivi
There’s no direct beach access to Bastia, but a little to the north, less than a 10-minute drive from the center, you’ll find the Hotel Alivi. The rooms and pool offer beautiful sea views and you can walk straight down to a beach.

Best 5-star hotel

Our favorite in the region (40min from Bastia)
But our favorite hotels in the region are not in Bastia or the nearby villages.
They’re in the village of Oletta between Bastia and Saint-Florent, with the charming La Dimora hotel, for example, just 40 minutes from Bastia.

Where to stay in Bastia: best districts
Is spending the night in Bastia worth it?
Bastia is the largest city in northern Corsica. It has a lot of charm, with its marina, numerous churches, citadel and nearby mountains. We really like the atmosphere here.
It’s one of the most beautiful places to stay in Corsica.
Plan your stay with our guide to What to do in Bastia.
Best places to stay in Bastia: Map
Here’s a map with the different zones we describe below.
Sleeping in the lower center
Most hotels are located in the center of Bastia, in the citadel and around the marina.
Benefits:
- Close to all places to visit
- Close to all restaurants
- Charming streets around the hotels
Disadvantages:
- Perhaps noisy
- Parking problems
Our favorite hotels:
We recommend the Hôtel Les Gouverneurs in the citadel(see photos and availability) and the charming Hôtel Monsieur Miot(see photos and availability).
Sleeping uptown
Bastia’s streets climb steeply, as mountains surround the town to the north and west. Some hotels, although close in distance to the center, are actually higher up.
Benefits:
- quieter
- beautiful views of the city and the sea
- more modern buildings with larger bedrooms and bathrooms
Disadvantages:
- more difficult to reach on foot from the city
- fewer restaurants nearby
Our favorite hotel:
We recommend the Le Bastia hotel with its indoor pool(see photos and availability).
Sleeping in the port center
North of the city center is the ferry port.
Benefits:
- Modern buildings with more recent installations
- Close to port-ferry
- Lower price, but 15min flat walk to town center
Disadvantages:
- Less charm
- 15min walk to downtown
Our favorite hotel:
We recommend the Port Toga hotel(see photos and availability)
Sleeping around Bastia (North or South)
If you’re not looking to be right in the center of town, you can find great options within a 30min drive all around.
To the north, you have the beautiful rugged coastline and mountain villages.
To the south, you’ll find the Etang de Biguglia and its long sandy beaches.
Benefits:
- Calmer
- Closer to nature (sea, beach or mountains)
- Sometimes beach access
Disadvantages:
- It’s quite a drive to get to the center of Bastia
- Fewer dining options
Our favorite hotel:
We recommend the Hotel Alivi, just 10 minutes from the center(see photos and availability).
And a little further afield we recommend the villages of Oletta or Saint-Florent – see our selection of Saint-Florent hotels.
Other tips to keep in mind
Bastia is a popular tourist destination. We therefore advise you to book as early as possible to have a choice of hotels and better prices.
Parking in Bastia is not easy. It’s best to park in one of the underground pay-and-display parking lots and stay parked while you explore the city. The citadel parking lot has long, wide spaces.

- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a car that is powerful enough (the roads are steep) but compact (some passages are narrow).
- Think of thecomplete insurance (some roads are tortuous and narrow).
