The best hotels in Piana: our 4 favorites

If you don’t want to read the whole list of hotels and why we love them, here’s our quick answer with our favorites in every corner of Piana, and why you’ll have a wonderful stay here!

However, it’s worth noting that the region’s hotels are aging, so you won’t find the wonderful designs of the hotels in Bonifacio, Calvi, L’Île-Rousse or Porto-Vecchio… But the point is to spend your time looking out over the most beautiful part of Corsica!

Best hotel in Piana with swimming pool: Capo Rosso

Hotel Capo Rosso swimming pool

This hotel is renowned for its views of the calanques de Piana, the Gulf of Porto and the Scandola reserve. And these views did not disappoint!
We could have just sat on the balcony or by the pool and enjoyed it for hours.

Best hotel in Piana (value for money): Scandola

View from

Similarly, Hotel Scandola is nestled in the hills in the heart of the calanques de Piana.
From our room, we had a perfect view of the gulf and the Scandola reserve. And from the bar and breakfast terrace, we enjoyed the views over the village of Piana and the calanques.

Best Appart-Hotel in Porto Ota: Capu Seninu

With modern apartments with mountain views and parking, the Capu Seninu residence is one of our favorite options in Porto Ota, not far from the boat departures. It’s a very convenient hotel for enjoying the region and not having to eat out at every meal.

Best hotel for the view in Porto Ota: Hotel les Flots Bleus

Almost all the hotels in Porto Ota have rooms with magnificent views, a mix of sea, marine and mountain. But one of our favourite views is from the Flots Bleus, with the pink rocks and Genoese tower in the foreground!

Where to stay near the calanques de Piana: best areas

Is spending the night in Piana worth it?

The calanques of Piana are one of Corsica’s most beautiful landscapes. These pink rock cliffs are absolutely stunning.
We recommend you spend at least one night here, to go further than just the boat trip: go up to the village of Evisa, down to the beach at Ficaghjola, hike…

It’s one of the most beautiful places to stay in Corsica. And you have 2 options: take a hotel in the hills of Piana, or sleep by the water in Porto Ota.

And then you can plan your stay with our guide to Les calanques de Piana and what to do in the Gulf of Porto Ota.

Sleep in the heart of the calanques at Piana

village of Piana

Benefits:

  • Breathtaking views: Piana is located in the Corse-du-Sud region, famous for its spectacular scenery and natural beauty. The village is surrounded by majestic mountains and offers breathtaking views of the Gulf of Porto.
  • Peace and quiet: Piana is a small, peaceful village, far from the hustle and bustle of the big cities and not just for tourists.
  • Several restaurants in the village

Disadvantages:

  • Winding road from the calanques de Piana down to the marina
  • Limited accommodation options: Piana is a small village

Our favorite hotels:

We recommend the Hotel Capo Rosso with its swimming pool – see photos and availability
And the Scandola hotel with its varied views – see photos and availability

Sleeping around the navy in Porto Ota

Village of Porto Ota

Benefits:

  • Ideal location: Porto-Ota is situated in the heart of the reserve between the calanques de Piana and Scandola.
  • Access to the sea: Porto-Ota is a coastal village offering easy access to the sea to enjoy the beach or take the boats exploring the reserves.
  • Wide choice of hotels and restaurants

Disadvantages:

  • A purely tourist village, it lacks the soul of Corsican villages.
  • Limited parking: Like many coastal villages in Corsica, parking can be limited in Porto-Ota, especially during busy periods.
  • Noise potential: Due to the large number of tourists, Porto-Ota can be lively and noisy.

Our favorite hotel:

We recommend the hotel Résidence Capu Seninu – see photos and availability

OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Corsica

  • Choose a car that is powerful enough (the roads are steep) but compact (some passages are narrow).
  • Think of thecomplete insurance (some roads are tortuous and narrow).
  • There is a lot of demand, book it early.

Other tips to keep in mind

The region is a popular tourist destination. We therefore advise you to book as early as possible to have a choice of hotels and better prices.

If you choose a hotel in Porto Ota, be sure to check the parking conditions. Parking can be difficult and can add to your budget.

1. Hotel Capo Rosso (Piana)

Hotel Capo Rosso view from the room

Why stay at Hotel Capo Rosso

The Hotel Capo Rosso is a must-see in the region.
We come here for the breathtaking views over the Gulf of Porto. We were delighted by the views from our room, the restaurant and the pool.

The atmosphere is peaceful and serene, and we enjoyed relaxing here after the winding, narrow roads all around the region.

The view from the pool is truly unbeatable. Just be aware that the hotel is nestled in the hills, so there are lots of stairs.

Hotel Capu Seninu

Why stay at Hotel Capu Seninu

If you prefer to sleep at the bottom of the calanques, near the sea, the Capu Seninu residence is one of the best options.
The rooms are more modern than most hotels in the area, there’s a kitchen if you want to take a break from the restaurants, and there’s ample parking at the foot of the residence, making your experience that much more enjoyable.

We recommend apartments with terraces and panoramic views to immerse yourself completely in the environment, with views of the mountains and river.

This hotel has one of the best views of Porto Ota.
It’s almost at the end of the marina, on the seaward side.
And so you have an exceptional foreground with the pink rocks and square Genoese tower of Porto Ota. We love it!

The rooms have been renovated. The decor is kept simple, so as not to compete with the view outside!

Cheap hotels and camping in the calanques de Piana

The region is very touristy and has limited building space, so you won’t find the best value for money in Corsica.

To keep prices down, go up to the inland villages, but this will mean a longer drive to the calanques.

If you want to sleep in a campsite, consider:

  • Camping le Porto
  • Camping Les Oliviers
  • The municipal campsite
