A 70m waterfall, ricochets of water, greenery… the Cascade Voile-de-la-Mariée is one of the most beautiful in Corsica. We highly recommend a detour!
Here are some useful tips for planning your visit to the Cascade Voile-de-la-Mariée in Corsica.
This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is a visit to the Voile-de-la-Mariée waterfall worthwhile?
Yes, the Voile-de-la-Mariée waterfall is well worth a visit, especially in spring.
This waterfall is absolutely magnificent, with all the rocks and water bouncing off it. It is 70m high and surrounded by greenery. We could spend hours admiring all the little steps and the movement of the water. Splendid!
This is one of Corsica’s most beautiful waterfalls.
Be careful, though: you need a lot of water to make it look good. The best time to visit is in spring when the snow is melting. You may be disappointed in summer and on your own, but it’s still a splendid place!
What you can see
The river under the bridge
When you reach the bridge, there are a few parking spaces on either side.
Before starting your ascent to the waterfall, take time to admire the little river that flows under the bridge. With moss and trees intertwined, it’s an enchanting landscape. This creek is called Trottu.
OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Corsica
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a car that is powerful enough (the roads are steep) but compact (some passages are narrow).
- Think of thecomplete insurance (some roads are tortuous and narrow).
- There is a lot of demand, book it early.
The short hike
It’s great to be able to access such a waterfall after just a 10-minute walk.
There are a few steps and slopes, but no major difficulties.
We really enjoyed this little nature walk, with moss on the rocks and trees twisted every which way.
And the further you go, the more you hear the roar of the waterfall!
The height of the waterfall
At the end of the hike, there’s an observation platform.
This allows you to appreciate the full height of the waterfall.
At 70m high, it’s one of the highest in Corsica.
All bounces
We took time out to discover each section of the waterfall and admire the hundreds or even thousands of bounces on the rock.
It’s a very elegant waterfall that really does resemble a bride’s veil, as the name suggests.
When there’s a lot of water, the waterfall is very white, but with some transparency.
Take the time to enjoy it: close your eyes, listen to its roar, smell the water droplets (if it’s windy). Then open your eyes and alternate between overview and detail.

The legend
Legend has it that the roar of the Trottu stream as it crashes below the waterfall echoes the howls of the Orcu u Canapali, i.e. the Capali ogre, who is the guardian of the place.
Legend has it that he caught a damsel dipping her damaged wrist in these miraculous waters. He tried to catch her, but she fled, losing her veil. The ogre caught his feet in the veil. He fell and was swept away by the waters…
Later, the inhabitants of the hamlet of Tavera Vechja discovered a statue-menhir further down the stream. It’s said to be the ogre petrified after his death…
The environment
The area is tree-covered, a very soothing place with just the sound of water.
There are many chestnut groves in the region.
In autumn, you’ll have less water on the cascade, but at the right time of year, you can have some trees changing color!

Voile-de-la-Mariée waterfall hike: useful tips
How long and how difficult
The sign at road level indicates a 10-minute climb. It’s a good way of measuring time.
It’s flat and uphill. There are stairs and dirt paths.
You won’t encounter any major difficulties. But the path can be slippery after the rain
Best moment
We highly recommend visiting in spring, when there’s enough water to get the full Bridal Veil effect.
You may be disappointed in late summer and autumn. But even without much water, it’s a very pretty place.
Visiting with children
The hike is short and accessible to children, with just a slight incline.
Eating out
There are no installations around the waterfall.
