How to get to the Cavu natural pools: access and map
Where are the Cavu Natural Swimming Pools?
- In South Corsica
- In the commune of Zonza
- In the heart of the Cavu Valley
- Driving time from Porto-Vecchio (nearest town): 30min
- Here is a map to help you find your way:

How to get there? Access road
To reach the Piscines Naturelles de Cavu by car from Porto-Vecchio, take the T10 territorial road towards Bastia. After about 15 minutes, turn left towards the village of Sainte-Lucie-de-Porto-Vecchio. Go through the village, then follow the D168A towards Conca/Cavu. Continue along this road for about 10km until you see the natural swimming pools. The site is not accessible by public transport.

OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Corsica
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a car that is powerful enough (the roads are steep) but compact (some passages are narrow).
- Think of thecomplete insurance (some roads are tortuous and narrow).
- There is a lot of demand, book it early.

Parking
The main parking lot at Piscines Naturelles de Cavu is subject to a seasonal charge. You’ll also find a camper van park on site. We remind you that parking is compulsory in the direction of departure to facilitate traffic flow.
Once you’ve parked your car, plan a 30-minute walk along the track to reach the natural pools. This approach walk offers lovely views of the river, making the journey pleasant despite the effort involved.

Useful tips: best time, difficulties…
Best time to visit
We strongly recommend that you visit the Cavu Natural Pools in the low season, as this site remains popular despite its relatively difficult access. Avoid the middle of the day to enjoy its beauty in peace and quiet and get around the mid-day heat peak. An early-morning visit in the cool is preferable. You’ll enjoy soft light on the pools, a more pleasant temperature for the approach walk, and above all, some well-deserved peace and quiet. We’ve noticed that the first visitors of the day take full advantage of the serenity of the area before the bathers arrive.

Length of visit and main difficulties
Allow at least 2 hours to get to and from the site on foot, and to enjoy it to the full.
The 30-minute approach walk from the parking lot requires good physical condition. Unfortunately, this site is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. The course has many steps and the ground is uneven, which can make progress difficult. We recommend that you wear suitable walking shoes to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the journey. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water with you, especially during the summer months.

Catering, Toilets and Facilities
Toilets are available in the parking lot, as are several catering options for a break before or after your visit.
- Restaurant Les 3 Piscines offers Corsican cuisine, homemade ice creams and a children’s menu, ideal for a gourmet family break.
- Restaurant Les Terrasses du Cavu – A Tyroliana offers homemade dishes to share, including plates of tapas and Corsican charcuterie, perfect for prolonging the moment in a convivial atmosphere.

Viewpoints on the Cavu River
The path leading to the natural pools offers magnificent views of the Cavu River. Between the hundred-year-old pines, we observed breathtaking views of the watercourse making its way through the Corsican scrubland. From the elevated pathway, the water appeared emerald green, blending harmoniously with the surrounding vegetation. From our elevated position, we could make out the rocks at the bottom of the water, so translucent was it. Take the time to stop and admire the panoramic views between the trees. These views alone are a reward even before you reach the natural pools.

The lush vegetation and mountain range
The natural pools are located in the heart of Corsica’s Regional National Park, in the majestic Cavu Valley. We loved exploring this unspoilt nature halfway between sea and mountains. The trail passes through lush vegetation typical of Corsican maquis. We also enjoyed superb views of the surrounding mountain peaks. These vistas allow you to appreciate the diversity of the landscapes of the Isle of Beauty, where craggy heights dominate verdant valleys.

The 3 pools in turquoise and emerald hues
The natural basins of the Rivière du Cavu form an exceptional bathing area enhanced by small waterfalls. We discovered a series of natural pools carved into the rock, forming turquoise and emerald pools that change according to the light. Surrounded by smooth rocks sculpted by time and erosion, they are a natural invitation to swim.

We immediately fell under the spell of these natural pools, nestled in the heart of lush vegetation. You’ll no doubt appreciate the cool but never icy water temperature, ideal for invigorating yourself on a hot summer’s day. The small waterfalls linking some of the pools add a playful, dynamic touch to the bathing experience.
