Looking for an exceptional wild beach in Corse-du-Sud? The Plage du Grand Sperone offers an unspoilt natural setting with pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters. We were won over by this beach, accessible only on foot, which rewards hikers with a breathtaking view of the Lavezzi Islands.
In this article, you’ll find our photos and tips for making the most of your visit to Plage du Grand Sperone.

This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is the Plage du Grand Sperone worth it?
Yes, it’s a magnificent beach and well worth a visit. It is one of the most beautiful in Corse-du-Sud. We were seduced by its fine white sand and deep blue crystalline waters. The breathtaking view of the Lavezzi Islands adds to the magic of the place. We particularly appreciate its unspoilt environment. Surrounded by dunes, Mediterranean scrub and spectacular cliffs, it offers a wild, natural experience. Access requires a 30-minute hike, which helps maintain the authentic character of this secluded beach.

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
The floor of Plage du Grand Sperone is made up of fine white sand. We also observed the presence of Posidonia meadows, marine plants essential to the Mediterranean ecosystem. On either side of the beach, rocky areas add to the wild character of the place.

Swimming conditions and supervision
The beach is not supervised. Nevertheless, the crystal-clear azure waters offer excellent bathing conditions. We’ve found that the entry to the water is progressive, facilitating access for bathers. Depending on weather conditions, you may encounter a few waves.

Installations
We found no facilities on this wild beach. Its difficult access and unspoilt nature explain the total absence of infrastructure. Make sure you bring everything you need for the day, including plenty of water.

Grand Sperone beach in Corse-du-Sud: how to get there
Where is the Plage du Grand Sperone?
- East of Bonifacio, in Corse-du-Sud
- 15min drive from Bonifacio
- South of Plage du Petit Sperone and Plage de Piantarella
Access by car and parking
To reach the beach by car from Bonifacio, take the D260 and then the Route de Piantarella. Please note that there is no on-site parking: visitors park in a row on both sides of the rather narrow road. We recommend arriving early to find a seat, especially in high season. Once you’ve parked your car near Plage de Piantarella (the starting point for the hike), allow around 30min to walk to Plage du Grand Sperone. The Diagon Alley crosses boulders and includes steps. We have found that this route requires a certain level of fitness and good walking shoes.

OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Corsica
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a car that is powerful enough (the roads are steep) but compact (some passages are narrow).
- Remember to take outcomprehensive insurance (some roads are winding and narrow).
- There is a lot of demand, book it early.

Access from the parking lot
From Plage de Piantarella, the path winds along the coast. We recommend that you follow the signs carefully, especially when crossing rocky areas. Natural staircases carved out of rock require special care. A 30-minute walk will take you to this unspoilt beach.

Public transport access
Public transport access to this isolated beach is limited. We recommend that you have your own vehicle to get to Plage de Piantarella, the starting point for the hike to Plage du Grand Sperone.

Special features
Dog
We didn’t see any signs about dog access to the beach.
Reduced mobility access
This beach is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. The 30-minute hike up, with its rocky passages and stairs, makes access impossible for wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties.

With children
The beach is not ideal for outings with young children. We noticed a total lack of child-friendly facilities. In addition, the beach is not supervised, so you need to be extra vigilant. The 30min access hike can also be a challenge for the little ones.

Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.
Eating out
There are no restaurants or bars directly on this wild beach. We strongly recommend that you bring your own food and drink, as the total absence of facilities makes it impossible to buy anything on site. If you haven’t planned ahead, there’s a snack bar open in high season at Plage de Piantarella (starting point of the hike).
