Looking for a white sandy beach with crystal clear waters in Corsica? The Plage du Petit Sperone offers an exceptional setting in an unspoilt bay near Bonifacio. We were won over by this beach paradise, which combines immaculate sand, striking azure-blue translucent waters and the remains of a Roman town. This postcard setting requires some effort to get there, but the place is magical!
In this article, you’ll find our photos and tips on how to make the most of your waterside getaway.

This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is the Plage du Petit Sperone worth it?
Yes, it’s a magnificent beach and well worth a visit. It’s one of the most beautiful in southern Corsica. We were amazed by the contrast between the soft white sand underfoot, the striking azure translucent waters and the surrounding scrubland. The presence of the ruins of a Roman city adds a unique historical dimension to this heavenly spot. Despite the effort required to access it, we find that this bay offers an exceptional setting that more than rewards the walk required to reach it. It also links Plage de Piantarella and Plage du Grand Sperone via a panoramic hiking trail.

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is composed of extremely white sand, enriched with powdered limestone. We loved the softness of the sand beneath our feet. This special texture creates a brilliant white beach that contrasts magnificently with the azure blue of the waters. The sand lends itself perfectly to relaxation and is remarkably comfortable to lie on.

Swimming conditions and supervision
The translucent azure waters offer exceptional bathing conditions. We appreciated the clarity of the water, which allowed us to observe the seabed. The square bay generally offers calm conditions, ideal for swimming. Entry into the water is smooth and gradual.
However, the beach is not supervised.

Installations
We didn’t see any showers or toilets on the beach. It retains its wild, unspoilt character, with no tourist facilities. We recommend that you bring everything you need for your visit, as you won’t find any infrastructure on site.

Access by car and parking
Once you’ve parked your car near Plage de Piantarella, plan a 20-minute hike to reach Plage du Petit Sperone. The Diagon Alley crosses boulders and includes steps. We have found that this route requires a certain level of fitness and good walking shoes. Despite this difficulty of access, we observed that the beach remains quite busy, testifying to its exceptional appeal.

Public transport access
Public transport access to this isolated beach is limited. We recommend that you have your own vehicle to get to Plage de Piantarella, the starting point for the hike to Plage du Petit Sperone.
