Decoration and atmosphere
The hotel’s decor is modern and sober, but enhanced by warmer touches such as yellow tiles and colorful seating.
We appreciated the use of materials with a more “bohemian” effect, such as the rattan on the wall sconces.
The large number of seats on the first floor gave this space a “cocoon” feel, contrasting with the very sober decoration of the corridors.

The room
Our room was simple but elegant, and we particularly liked it. It didn’t have a balcony, but we had a superb view over the bay of Ajaccio. The bedding was really comfortable.
Spacious, it featured a sitting area with a sofa bed, accommodating up to 4 people. A pleasant spot from which to observe the bay.
The room was well equipped. In the functional office area, we found a coffee machine, 2 coffee cups, tea and coffee capsules. There was also a safe, and a TV with the main foreign channels (BBC…). We were delighted to be able to use a night valet.

The bathroom
Our bathroom was equipped with a large walk-in shower and built-in toilet. The bathroom decor, with its brown and blue tones and geometric patterns, added warmth to the overall atmosphere of the room. A beautiful silver mirror topped the sink.
In addition to a hairdryer and a box of tissues, there were dispensers for Algotherm shower gel and liquid soap.

The breakfast
The hotel offers a varied and tasty continental buffet breakfast. It includes local products such as canistrellis spreads (Corsican cookies).
We appreciated the choice of products on offer, both sweet (pastries, fruit, cereals, jams, honey) and savoury (charcuterie, cheeses). We were delighted to be able to eat a variety of dried fruits and breads. The hot beverages were also of high quality ( Dammann Frères tea…).
Finally, the breakfast room is really nice. Adjoining the terrace, there were plenty of places to sit!

THE SAME MISTAKE WE MADE
On one of our last trips to Europe, a hacker stole our credit card details while we were using a hotel WiFi.
So our trip began with a “card blocked” call… Not funny at all!

The restoration
The Courtepaille restaurant, specializing in grilled meats, is right next door to the hotel. Open daily from 11am to 11pm. Breakfast can be served in your room. If you’re an early riser or a late riser, we recommend you opt for the express formula, which lets you enjoy your breakfast from 4 a.m. to midday.
History in brief
The Best Western hotel chain was founded in 1946 by Californian M.K. Guertin. At the time, the network included 66 motels. The aim was to raise the quality standards of this type of accommodation by redirecting customers to other hotels in the network. By the mid-1960s, the chain was the largest in the United States. A strategic turnaround was adopted in 1974: the group abandoned its system of mutual recommendations and the motel sector to compete directly with classic hotels. It worked, as the network gradually spread around the world until the 2000s.
The 2010 decade saw a diversification of the chain’s product range, with the Best Western Plus, Best Western Premier and BW Signature Collection brands. Best Western has also acquired other external brands through its takeover of the WorldHotels hotel group.
Today, the chain is one of the industry leaders, with 15 international brands and 4,700 hotels in over 100 countries.
