Where to sleep in Cap Corse – summary + map

If you don’t want to read the whole article describing all the best places to stay in Southern Corsica, here are our simple answers.

Visit the Cap Corse in 1 or 2 days, or more

The Cap Corse is the peninsula of 40 km long and 15 km wide.
The tour of the Cap Corse can be done in one day, but our recommendation is to enjoy it over 2 days:

  • Without stopping, to go around the D80, it takes 3h30 of driving
  • In our opinion, the views are best counter-clockwise.
  • With 2 days, you can take advantage of the best hours to see the landscapes and do some hiking on the customs path or at the Seneca tower.
  • Plan more, if you want to do longer hikes

See our article to visit the Cap Corse in 1 or 2 days, with our favorite stops.

Macinaggio has been a port since Roman times. It is located in the north of the Cap Corse.

It has lost most of its historical buildings, but you can still enjoy the marina, the beach. And it is from here that the Sentier des Douaniers starts (next stop).

And most visitors tend to stay on the coastal road. But we recommend you to go up to Tomino, a small village with perfect views on Macinaggio and its beach. There is a beautiful hotel here.

Saint-Florent
Saint-Florent

About Saint-Florent and Patrimonio

Leaving the peninsula of Cap Corsewe find ourselves in the charming region of Saint-Florent.
The most sought after is of course to stay by the sea. The city is quite elongated on the waterfront, so there are plenty of choices. You have quick access to activities and restaurants.
But don’t miss Patrimonio, just 10 minutes inland with its very photogenic baroque church and its vineyards between the mountain and the sea.

Patrimonio
Patrimonio

Why stay in Saint-Florent or Patrimonio

You are at the base of the Cap Corse. This gives you quick access to the main road all around.
Here you have a wider choice of accommodation and restaurants, and access to the sumptuous beaches of the Agriates desert, ideal to complete your vacation in Northern Corsica.

Option 5 – Bastia

Marina Bastia Corsica

Why stay in Bastia

Before starting your tour around the Cap Corseyou can visit Bastia, one of the largest cities in Corsica.
Our favorite part was the little old port with old buildings all around.
The other main attraction is the Citadel of Bastia. It is open to the public.

Bastia is the second largest city in Corsica.
It is at the foot of the Cap Corseand is therefore ideal for exploring.
And the center around the port has a lot of character and charm.

Frequently asked questions

Camping in Cap Corse

You also have several campsites around the Cap Corse.
Consider:

  • Camping of the Beach U Stazzu at the beginning of the customs path
  • Camping Aria Marina on the East Coast
  • Camping la Pietra on the East Coast
  • Camping A Casaiola on the East Coast
  • Isulottu, some pitches with view and in the middle of the road of Cap Corse

Most beautiful side of the Cap Corse

Personally, we find the western side more beautiful because the mountains fall closer to the sea. But this means fewer villages and less accommodation.
The greatest choice is on the east coast with its charming waterfront villages. Very pleasant to relax.
