Is Plage de Porticcio worth it?
Nestling on the opposite shore to Ajaccio, this extensive beach is well worth a visit. In fact, it features in our article on the seaside resort’s must-do activities. To get there, all you have to do is take the maritime shuttle that links Porticcio to the Corsican imperial city.
We were seduced by this beach, which offers magnificent views of the sea. We mention it in our selection of the island’s most beautiful beaches! We warmly recommend it to families in search of relaxation and entertainment. Between sunbathing, swimming and water sports, you’ll never be bored!

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made up of fine golden sand, but there are a few small pebbles and dry seaweed.
All you have to do is lay out a towel, and off you go for a siesta under the Corsican sun!

Swimming conditions and supervision
Swimming conditions are very good. The descent into the water is gradual, and the waters are turquoise.
Signs indicate that the beach is supervised in season.

Installations
We found showers and toilets right on the beach.

Access by car and parking
To reach the Plage de Porticcio from Ajaccio, head for the airport, which you’ll bypass to take the T40 road. Go straight on for a few minutes, then join the D55 road to Porticcio. We advise you to park before arriving at the Tourist Office. There are several parking areas and small parking lots along the beach.

- Choose a car that is powerful enough (the roads are steep) but compact (some passages are narrow).
- Think of thecomplete insurance (some roads are tortuous and narrow).

Access from the parking lots
The parking lots are located on the seafront, directly on the sand.
Public transport access
If you’re coming from Ajaccio, you can take the shuttle bus. The journey takes an average of 20 minutes. The crossing is very pleasant. Find out more here.

Dog
Dogs are allowed on certain parts of the beach.

Reduced mobility access
The beach is equipped for people with reduced mobility. There are reserved toilets and adapted bathing access.

With children
The slope to enter the water is gentle and gradual. The bathing area is clearly marked out. The beach is supervised. All the conditions are in place for an enjoyable family outing! If your children are keen on water sports, you’ll also find a sailing school. Find out more here.

Eating out
There are a few good restaurants right on the beach. We particularly recommend Restaurant L’Escale, with its exceptional view over the Bay of Ajaccio. We ate dishes based on seafood.
