For those who want to avoid the crowds of Calvi’s main beach, Roncu beach is a small cove on the other side of the citadel, with large rocks and undeniable charm.
Here are our practical tips for planning your visit to Roncu beach in Calvi.
This guide is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is Roncu beach worth it?
Yes, Roncu beach is well worth a visit, especially if you take advantage of the coastal path around it.
You won’t have a view of the citadel from the beach, but it is a small beach below, protected by huge rocks. We found it very charming, and especially less crowded!
This is one of Calvi’s most beautiful beaches.
Beach type
Sand or no sand?
The soil on Roncu beach is made of small gravel.
You won’t find any sand.
And in the water, they’re more like pebbles.
We recommend that you wear swimming shoes.
Installations
We didn’t see any showers or toilets on the beach.
Monitoring
The beach is unsupervised.
Conditions for swimming
The water is transparent and magnificent, making you want to take a dip.
It’s a small cove, so the water stays calm along the beach.
With all the rocks, you can enjoy a little snorkeling.

Access by car and parking
There is no dedicated parking.

OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Corsica
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a car that is powerful enough (the roads are steep) but compact (some passages are narrow).
- Think of thecomplete insurance (some roads are tortuous and narrow).
- There is a lot of demand, book it early.
Access from the city
From the town, you have to go down a road that descends quite a bit, then up a flight of steps to reach the beach. It’s below the road and the houses.
So you’ll have to climb back up the slope to get back to town.
And if you’re coming from the west, you’ll arrive via the coastal path. It allows you to walk and discover some of Corsica’s most beautiful landscapes.
