Be careful, we recommend planning a little more as we have noticed that the walking times in Corsica are for very fast walkers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where to sleep in the Agriates desert<\/h3>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a reserve, so there are few options:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>U Paradisu Saleccia Camping, at the western end of the beach of Saleccia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Old sheepfolds become a stopover for walkers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Le relais de Saleccia along the road D81 &#8211; From April to October, there are shuttles between the city and the pontoon of Lotu Beach.<br\/>The crossing takes less than 20 minutes and the pontoon at Lotu beach allows easy disembarkation and embarkation.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lepopeye.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Popeye<\/a> is one of the main companies operating these shuttles.<br\/>This boat is big and it stays in the gulf, so the trip is easy.<br\/>Otherwise, see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taxi-plages-saint-florent.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Taxi-plages Saint-Florent<\/a>, with a fast boat going to both beaches.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you are visiting in the middle of summer, be sure to book in advance.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Crossing by boat<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/10b-Saint-Florent-Bateau\/i-Fzx8T2f\/6\/36900b01\/L\/saint_florent_bateau_desert_agriates_Corse-10-L.jpg\" alt=\"Crossing by boat\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The boat ride to Lotu beach is short but very pleasant.<br\/>You can see many things during the trip:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Saint Florent surrounded by mountains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How the mountains of Cap Corse plunge directly into the sea<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La Mortella, a Genoese tower with a long history. It was built between 1553 and 1555. It was essential for the protection of the region. If you are from England or Ireland, you may have seen similar tours. src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/10c-Lotu-Beach\/i-khxKgxw\/1\/462b2d5e\/L\/Plage_Lotu_desert_agriates_Corse-2-6-L.jpg\" alt=\"Beach of Lotu Corse 1\" title=\"Beach of Lotu Corse 1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Lotu beach is one of the most protected beaches in the desert. Since it is still inside the gulf, the waters are calmer.<br\/>It is a rather large area of sand.<br\/>What we like most is that you can enjoy fantastic views of the mountains of <a href=\"https:\/\/corsicalovers.fr\/en\/visit-cap-corse-corsica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cap Corse<\/a> while relaxing on the sand.<\/p>\n\n<p>Notes and advice:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>as you can see on the picture, dead Posidonia algae sometimes pile up on the sand. It can happen on any beach. And this is very important for the protection of the coast. Thus, sometimes a beach can look more or less like a paradise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you might see cows wandering around. Do not approach. Let them do it. This is their territory!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a small caf\u00e9 near the beach of Lotu. However, it is only open in summer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The beach is not supervised<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/10c-Lotu-Beach\/i-VbDZrNs\/1\/da3aee67\/L\/Plage_Lotu_desert_agriates_Corse-2-2-L.jpg\" alt=\"Beach of Lotu Corse 2\" title=\"Beach of Lotu Corse 2\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Walking along the inner track to the beach of Saleccia (shorter than the coastal track), you can admire the beach of Lotu and the lagoon from above. And we have a better view on the mountains of Cap Corse !<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-10\">Beach of Saleccia in Corsica  <\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/10e-Saleccia-Beach\/i-BSRLQkc\/1\/ca7aafac\/L\/plage_saleccia_desert_agriates_Corse-45-L.jpg\" alt=\"Beach of Saleccia Corsica 4\" title=\"Beach of Saleccia Corsica 4\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>And here we are! It is the beach of Saleccia, one of the most beautiful beaches of Corsica.<br\/>The white sandy beach extends for more than 1 km. There is one at each end of the beach (but not directly on the sand)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This beach is more open to the sea so you can have bigger waves &#8211; be careful!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The beach is not supervised<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 1961, some scenes of the Normandy landing were shot for the movie &#8220;The Longest Day&#8221; !!!!! high ground clearance is required.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cala di Malfalcu &#8211; beach<\/h3>\n\n<p>If you are looking for something quieter, the beach of Malfacu is even more isolated in the Agriates desert.<br\/>A few minutes walk from Ghignu, with a turquoise color, dunes of juniper and Aleppo pine.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The beach of Acciolu<\/h3>\n\n<p>Another dream beach with white sand and turquoise water.<br\/>2 hours walk from the beach Ostriconi.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vana Beach<\/h3>\n\n<p>30min walk from with short or multi-day options.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hiking between Lotu and Saleccia: the most famous<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/10d-Rando-Desert-Agriates\/i-LGg6554\/1\/f74358a5\/L\/randonnee_desert_agriates_Corse-1-3-L.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>As we said before, you can hike between the beach of Lotu and the beach of Saleccia.<br\/>You can take either the inland trail which takes 1 hour or the coastal trail which takes 1 hour and 15 minutes.<br\/>And you can take one on the way out and one on the way back!<br\/>We prefer the inner track with its breathtaking scenery.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coastal path, from St Florent<\/h3>\n\n<figure in Saint-Florent to the beach of Saleccia, it is necessary to count 6 hours of walk.<br\/>That&#8217;s good enough, but you can keep going!<\/p>\n\n<p>If you like long walks, you can do the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altituderando.com\/Traversee-du-desert-des-Agriates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coastal path<\/a> from the beach of Roya to the beach of Ostriconi. It takes 14h for 35km. The old shepherds&#8217; houses have been restored for overnight stays.<\/p>\n\n<p>Beware of animals on the hiking trails. Don&#8217;t come any closer.
