We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-2\">Why visit Erbalunga in Corsica?<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is the village Erbalunga worth a visit?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes. <br\/>Erbalunga is a charming little pedestrian village north of Bastia.<br\/>It&#8217;s one of the main villages to visit on the east coast of <a href=\"https:\/\/corsicalovers.fr\/en\/visit-cap-corse-corsica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cap Corse<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is probably due to the tiny peninsula on which it is built. The old houses are cramped on this small lot. And to finish the charm, you find the ruins of a Genoese tower at the tip of the peninsula.  <br\/>This village has a lot of charm.<br\/>It is very different from the other famous Cap Corse village: <a href=\"https:\/\/corsicalovers.fr\/en\/nonza-corsica-village-cap-corse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nonza<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is one of the most charming places to see in Corsica<a href=\"https:\/\/corsicalovers.fr\/en\/best-places-in-corsica-tourism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(see our list<\/a>). See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commune-brando.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the site<\/a> of the commune of Brando.<br\/>The bus makes the trip in 20 minutes. Also, there are almost no cars (except for deliveries), so it&#8217;s nice.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Allow 1 hour<\/strong> if you are just visiting the village, longer if you want to enjoy the restaurants and the atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And more, if you want to explore the ruins of the castle of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows above the village.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/8b-Erbalunga\/i-7FL4Zp8\/1\/18db8a4d\/L\/Erbalunga_cap_Corse-14-L.jpg\" alt=\"Erbalunga Village\" title=\"Erbalunga Village\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pedestrian street of Erbalunga<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to visit Erbalunga?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Erbalunga is a pleasant destination all year round.<br\/>As we mentioned before, if you are visiting in the middle of summer, arrive early enough to park.<br\/>Erbalunga faces east, so it is an ideal place for sunrises.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procession and festival<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to enjoy some events in the village (or avoid them), know that in Erbalunga you have:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Holy Week in March with its procession<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Procession during the feast of Saint Erasmus which takes place on June 2nd. It includes a blessing of the sea and the boats.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Cap sur le Rire Festival in July  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mid-summer piano nights &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesnuitsdupianoerbalunga.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">site<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The music festival of Erbalunga which takes place in the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Verdure (outdoor amphitheater on the heights of the village) &#8211; with great names of classical music since 1989, in August.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/festivalerbalunga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Follow the programming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Restaurants<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/8b-Erbalunga\/i-P6pRknp\/1\/e74e14fa\/L\/Erbalunga_cap_Corse-25-L.jpg\" alt=\"Erbalunga Restaurants\" title=\"Erbalunga Restaurants\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Erbalunga has a wide variety of restaurants, about a dozen. They range from pizzerias, to local seafood and Corsican cuisine, to a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant.<br\/>It is a great place for lunch.<br\/>However, note that it is also a popular place for lunch. Many tourists and buses stop here during the summer.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend: The gastronomic restaurant Le Pirate with view on the small harbour &#8211; <a It is part of the vast <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tour_g%C3%A9noise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defense network<\/a> set up by the Republic of Genoa.<br\/>It is classified as a historical monument.<br\/>Here it is, photographed closely:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/8b-Erbalunga\/i-fz7fBGc\/1\/65cdc648\/L\/Erbalunga_cap_Corse-35-L.jpg\" alt=\"Corsica Erbalunga Genoese Tower 2\" title=\"Corsica Erbalunga Genoese Tower 2\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We think the best view is not from up close but from the end of the harbor pier (see next section). You can reach it after a short walk north of the marina.<br\/>I&#8217;m sorry I forgot to take a picture.<br\/>It&#8217;s really small but enough to get into the water and cool off on hot summer days.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beaches near Erbalunga<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your alternative is the largest beach of Sisco-marine, 7 minutes drive north of Erbalunga.<br\/>Here you will also find rocks. But the area is larger.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Travel\/Corsica\/8a-Corniche-et-route-cap-corse\/i-K8dpwJ6\/1\/fd8bc38f\/L\/Sisco_cap_Corse-1-L.jpg\" alt=\"Erbalunga Beach\" title=\"Erbalunga Beach\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are looking for a sandy beach, you should continue north to Pietracorba &#8211; marine. It goes up above Bastia and goes down towards Erbalunga.<br\/>It is a little more difficult but it takes you to the church of Santa Lucia with its view on Bastia.<br\/>Sit on the bench to enjoy the 180\u00b0 view between mountains and sea. Enter the church.
